Knowledge is Power.
"Dem/Rep Top Contributors" - Still think your political party represents you? Think again. Corporate America has waaaay more money than you do, but corporations aren't funding both major political parties because they get a kick out of vigorous political bandying...
Plasma Arc Gasification - If you only read the pro-literature, this method of dealing with landfill waste sounds like the greatest thing since sliced bread; but every rose has its thorn...
- "Plasma Arc Gasification" - the wikipedia article.
- "Geoplasma Inc. to scale back" - I wonder what led to the cold feet; was it really skepticism about our ability to generate enough garbage, or the increasing pressure to produce data about health concerns?
- "Doctors caution SLC" - My question is: What causes the dioxin to be released? Is it something we can sort out before it makes it to the reactor?
"The next generation of windmills" - Flodesign video promoting their revolutionary windmill design. The company is now under the financial thumb of Goldman Sachs. Hopefully this doesn't stall R&D or production.
"Zeitgeist: Addendum" - This movie explains the Federal Reserve Bank in very easy to understand terms, which is akin to explaining time travel.
"The Venus Project" - Not proven technology, but still inspiring architecture and design. Some of the clean energy projects (the tidal generators) could be explored right here in SLC and the Treasure Coast.
"We Are All Connected - Symphony of Science" - New Age video created using sound bites from some of the world's leading science personalities.
"Health Care Reform Thought Bubble" - Catchy and cute Flash animation offering a simplified take on the Health Care debate.
"The Zeitgeist Movie" - Want to become indignant about the banking industry, 9/11, organized religion, and the conspiracies of war? The first half-hour of the first movie is historically sketchy and a little too much faith-bashing for my taste, but the rest of the series is pretty intriguing.
"Ron Paul's 'What If?' speech remastered" - I don't necessarily agree with everything Ron Paul says, but questioning the conscience of Congress is never wrong.
"How Washington is Screwing Up Health Care Reform..." - Matt Taibbi is a Rolling Stone journalist, joining the ranks of P.J. O'Rourke, Hunter S. Thompson, etc. One of the most informative and detailed explanations of recent Health Care legislation. This sort of journalism is typically labeled "liberal" but it takes a pretty hefty swing at both parties and specifically calls out representatives and senators from both sides of the aisle, citing monetary amounts and donors.
"The Big Takeover:" - [Adult language] Another Matt Taibbi article, this one putting AIG, Bear Stearns, government agencies, The Fed and other bailout participants responsible for the financial crisis under the microscope; citing unethical action, irresponsible inaction, and the inscrutable Federal Reserve Bank as the reason the middle class is getting hammered while thieves in suits are making $1 million a month. A good compliment to the "Zeitgeist: Addendum" video, just stay away from bell towers.
